[. . . ] PPC4TM Pressure Controller/Calibrator Operation and Maintenance Manual © 2009 DH Instruments, a Fluke Company Warning · High pressure liquids and gases are potentially hazardous. Energy stored in these liquids and gases can be released unexpectedly and with extreme force. High pressure systems should be assembled and operated only by personnel who have been instructed in proper safety practices. If there is any doubt as to the effectiveness of the supply outlet earth, do not connect the PPC4. [. . . ] The choice of measurement modes offered reflects all the Q-RPT types available (Axxx, Gxxx, BGxxx) in the PPC4 system, not just the active Q-RPT. Full Scale: Edit the full scale pressure value in the unit of measure specified in the Unit field. If the full scale pressure entered cannot be covered by any of the Q-RPTs available, an error window is displayed ("No suitable RPTs found"). If the full scale pressure can be covered by an available Q-RPT, the entry is accepted. Use UUT Tolerance: If this field is "Yes" the UUT Tolerance is used to determine the PPC4 resolution and hold limit settings for the resulting AutoRange. If this field is "No" the resolution and hold limit settings for the resulting AutoRange are determined based on the AutoRange full scale and the active selected Q-RPT. UUT Tolerance: If enabled, the tolerance of the device under test, in % of AutoRanged span, associated with the resulting AutoRange. [OK] from the AutoRanger screen continues to the AutoRange Confirmation screen, where the specified Full Scale, Unit, Mode and UUT Tolerance are listed in addition to the selected RPT. Selecting the RPT drop down list shows all available RPTs that can cover the specified AutoRange. If an RPT other than the one selected is desired, it may be chosen from this list. Note If an external Q-RPT that should be available is not being selected by AutoRange then choose [AutoRange], [RPT Search] from the Main Run Screen and determine whether external Q-RPTs have been properly connected and initialized (see Section 2. 3. 6). Page 97 © 2009 DH Instruments, a Fluke Company PPC4TM OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL [OK] from the AutoRange Confirmation screen creates the range, [Back] returns to the AutoRanger screen and [Esc] or exits to the Main Run Screen and does not create the AutoRange. [Delete Range]: Click to delete the currently selected AutoRange from the Range drop down list. [RPT Search]: To search for, initialize and display internal and external Q-RPTs available to the PPC4 system. Selecting an available Q-RPT changes Range to the default range of that Q-RPT. Note · [Esc] from the RPT Search screen the PPC4 will return to the Main Run Screen and no AutoRange changes that were made after the last [Save] will be stored. If a range is selected from the list, [OK] changes the active range to the selected Range. [Esc] returns to the Main Run Screen without changing the currently active AutoRange. To verify or confirm the range from the Main Run Screen, use [AutoRange] from the Main Run Screen and view the Range field to view the active range (see Section 3. 2. 8) or view the AutoRange and active Q-RPT spans and indicators from the AutoRanger bar on the main run screen (see Figure 14). · · The AutoRange Bar in the middle of the PPC4 Main Run Screen displays the range and a graphical indicator of the measured pressure within the range for both the active AutoRanged Range and the active Q-RPT (see Figure 14, showing a 200 kPa AutoRanged Span on a 700 kPa Q-RPT). AutoRange Bar Caution · Before operating PPC4 with external Q-RPTs, check carefully that the Q-RPT TEST(+) port is connected to the PPC4 TEST(+) port. If the external Q-RPT is NOT connected to the PPC4 TEST(+) port, it will not measure the pressure generated by PPC4 and PPC4 may reach a pressure higher than the target pressure before its watchdog function recognizes that the external RPT is not connected. © 2009 DH Instruments, a Fluke Company Page 98 5. ADVANCED USER INTERFACE · RPM4 with Q-RPT full scale spans below 14 MPa have SDS self defense system to isolate and protect the Q-RPTs. If an external RPM4 SDS pressure rating is less than the PPC4 maximum pressure then a warning will be displayed on the PPC4 front panel when the RPM4 is detected. In addition, AutoRanged ranges greater than the SDS rating are not allowed (see Sections 3. 2. 5, 6. 5. 4, 3. 2. 8). In order to create AutoRanged ranges or generate pressures above the SDS pressure rating the RPM4 must be disconnected or the RPM4 SDS must be upgraded to a higher pressure rating.
