Viewing the wide-screen picture formats (480i, 480p and 1080i signals only)
You can view 480i, 480p, and 1080i format programs in a variety of picture sizes--Natural, TheaterWide 1, TheaterWide 2, TheaterWide 3, and Full. (The Full picture size is not selectable for 1080i format programs. ) The way the image displays in any of the picture sizes will vary depending on the format of the program you are viewing. Select the picture size that displays the current program the way that looks best to you. See "Notice of possible adverse effects on TV picture display, " below right.

Avoid displaying stationary images on your TV screen for extended periods of time. Fixed (non-moving) patterns or images (including but not limited to PIP/ POP windows, closed captions, video game patterns, TV station logos, stock tickers, websites, and special formats that do not use the entire screen) can become permanently ingrained in the cathode ray tube(s) of the TV and cause subtle but permanent ghost images. See item 33 on page 4 for details.

TheaterWide 1 picture size example
· If you select TheaterWide 2 or 3, the top and bottom edges of the picture may be hidden. To see the hidden edges, either scroll the picture (see page 34) or try viewing the program in Full picture size.
TheaterWide 2 picture size (For letter box programs) · The entire picture is uniformly enlarged--it is stretched the same amount both wider and taller (retains its original proportion). To view the hidden areas, see "Scrolling the TheaterWide® picture" on page 34.

TheaterWide 3 picture size (For letter box programs with subtitles) · The picture is non-uniformly enlarged--it is stretched wider to fill the width of the screen, but only slightly stretched taller. To view the hidden areas (such as subtitles or captions), see "Scrolling the TheaterWide® picture" on page 34.

TheaterWide 1 picture size (For 4:3 format programs) · The picture is non-uniformly enlarged--the center of the picture remains close to its original proportion, but the left and right edges are stretched wider to fill the screen. · A small part of the picture at the top and bottom is hidden; however, this mode cannot be scrolled.
Note: · To select the picture size, press PIC SIZE on the remote control or select PICTURE SIZE in the PICTURE menu. · The PICTURE SIZE feature is not available for some program formats (such as 720p). Such formats will display in Natural picture size (see page 32).
