Installing the Drive

Important: You must first install the drive utilities on the included CD before connecting the unit. If a security alert is displayed during this installation, click Accept or Continue. [. . . ] If you want to install the backup software now, double-click the WD BackupTM icon in the Mac folder and follow the instructions as prompted. Connect the unit's power cord and interface cable (USB, FireWire 800, or FireWire 400) as shown, after which the unit mounts to the system. For further information on this product including drive features, utilities, RAID configuration, drive replacement, and troubleshooting, refer to the user manual provided on the CD.
